Public Consultation
Following councillor presentations, we recently took part in a public consultation for an exciting project we aim to submit for planning approval in the new year.
Collaborating with Angmering Parish Council and Baqus, we have developed the design for an extension of the existing community centre to provide a new multifunctional facility comprising a vibrant youth centre, a welcoming café, a versatile meeting room and modern council offices.
It is always a little daunting taking a project that you are proud of, and have worked so hard on and open it up for public feedback. It takes me back to university and bracing yourself for what can often feel like a pretty personal attack.
It isn't personal though, and as architects we work best when we are brave enough to hear criticism (constructive or otherwise) and can skilfully separate the valuable feedback and identify areas for improvement. Then we can take all that back to the drawing board and develop an even better, more creative and well rounded proposal.
Ultimately, it was great to discuss the project with residents who will benefit and be impacted by it, to show them our design, and hear their thoughts on the scheme.
We can't wait to develop this project further!
