Brought in at RIBA Stage 4 as architects familiar with working with Wealden District Council, we took over technical design on a scheme with planning permission already secured through a previous architect, and found room to improve it by revising the design and layout to maximise the scheme's value through a minor material amendment to the existing consent.

We then discharged the outstanding planning conditions and secured a further permission for a double garage with a green roof, incorporating ecological enhancements for bats and birds to satisfy Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) requirements.

The building itself was delivered using insulated concrete formwork (ICF), a modern method of construction chosen to streamline buildability on site and improve the finished home's thermal performance.

This project is proof that taking over a project mid-process doesn't restrict our ability to add value.
