A derelict changing space and community room on the village green in Small Dole had reached the end of its useful life, leaving the village without a fit for purpose community facility. The site's position, right on the green and central to village life, made it an important one to get right.

We undertook the RIBA Stage 4 Technical Design for the new build development - a new two storey, oak framed structure combining office and workspace, a kitchen and a community room. We carried the project through technical design and coordinated closely with statutory services and utility providers to get the building ready for construction on a sensitive, well used village site.

Once built, the finished building will give Small Dole a modern, adaptable space at the heart of the village, capable of supporting community events, local businesses and everyday village life for years to come. It's an example of the kind of sensitive, technically coordinated design we bring to community and workspace buildings on prominent rural sites across Sussex.
